91% of TorStar story readers shoot down Liberal insults aimed at Caledonia Militia

In ‘Proof positive native extremists have lost PR battle’ I laid out the evidence to show how native extremists have lost the support of the media and – just as importantly – their own communities.

Yesterday’s reaction by readers to a Toronto Star story regarding Doug Fleming’s Caledonia Militia idea shows just how much the public is fed up with the lawbreakers AND the McGuinty government.

After reading the story in which the Premier, Aboriginal Affairs Minister Brad Duguid and Community Safety & Correctional Services Minister Rick Bartolucci called the milita idea “unhelpful;” “dumb” and “shameful” 85 comments were left. Result: 77 positive comments for the militia, Fleming, and Caledonia. 5 negative comments. 3 neutral.

In other words, despite the scathing criticisms by three Liberal ministers 91% of readers who read their words – published by one of the biggest, most liberal newspapers in Canada – think the following:

1. McGuinty’s ministers are a bunch of twits;

2. They’re not buying justifications or tolerance of landclaim lawlessness anymore, and

3. They think the Caledonia Militia is a great idea. If you count the neutral comments, it means 94% of readers were either positive or neutral regarding the militia.

It must have been a tremendous blow to their egos to find out that they were wrong – that the public sees the Caledonia Militia as a legitimate reaction to their interference in policing.

BTW, the TorStar story had a link to the Hamilton Spec’s ‘let’s rewrite history’ story as discussed in my last post, ‘More BS in Caledonia: Spectator helps smokeshacker spread it thick & wide.’ This makes the positive number of comments even more impressive!

CHTV coverage – positively inspired!

CHTV had some positively brilliant coverage featuring Doug Fleming. In an interview by Donna Skelly and Lawrence Diskin, Doug’s common sense and understanding of history shone forth while Skelly firmly announced that she supported Doug 100%.

Dramatic developments coincide with CANACE activities

UPDATE 1245 EST May 26/08: Fantino has emergency meeting with Six Nations Confederacy chiefs, tells them he will enforce court orders against native protesters. See ‘End of the beginning’ for struggle against race-based policing.’

While CANACE can’t take credit for all the dramatic developments that have taken place recently, they do seem to coincide with CANACE activism and education efforts.

A quick refresher:

On May 07/08 CANACE released our latest report, ‘Legalized MYTHS of Illegal Occupations‘ to a packed Cayuga Hall that included business people and developers. MPP Toby Barrett spoke to the crowd and provided an update about Deseronto.
On May 08/08 CANACE directors met with two federal MPs at a resident’s home in Caledonia where we supplied them with copies of 4 CANACE reports. We have received confirmation that 20 copies of these reports were distributed ‘broadly’ in Ottawa and are ‘causing quite a stir.’
On May 12/08 CANACE was authorized to gather evidence at a construction site in Cayuga for the purpose of laying criminal charges against native blockaders. Charges should be filed via ‘private informations’ by the end of next week. The OPP subsequently advised the builders that their Criminal division was ‘investigating.’

Feeding the crocodiles in Deseronto

Title: No charges yet in police assault [reprint]

On Jan. 30, two plainclothes officers with the OPP’s Major Event Liaison Team arrived at the Thurlow Aggregates quarry on Deseronto Road and asked to speak with protest organizers.

They were told to return to the site after dark – around 8 p.m. – for a meeting with “elders”, according to police.

It is believed the officers were pushed to the ground, pelted with snow and their vehicle was damaged by those at the scene. Neither officer, however, was reported to have been injured.

Readers will recall that the Belleville Intelligencer once ran an editorial applauding Deseronto town council and the Royal Canadian Legion for refusing to rent rooms to us so that we and Caledonia citizens could inform people there about the realities of Two Tier Justice, and the steps we were taking to peacefully oppose it.
